Createasphere Presents the 3D Road Show

-

Createasphere announced a series of one-day workshops aimed at demystifying 3D stereoscopic capture, post and delivery by bringing educational presentations, exhibits and hands-on demonstrations to five major cities with robust filmmaking communities. These one-day workshops offer attendees the chance to talk one on one with experts from such companies as AJA, Assimilate, Manfrotto and Panasonic.

The city stops and dates include:

  • Chicago – Oct. 6
  • Burbank – Nov. 4
  • New York City – Dec. 1
  • Austin – Dec. 8
  • Miami – Dec. 15

“We know that we are in the midst of the learning curve for 3D content creation for many creatives. As 3D heads into mobile, corporate and commercial production, content creators across the spectrum are anxious to learn and experience the best ways and workflows to utilize this compelling medium,” said Kristin Petrovich Kennedy, president of Createasphere. “Createasphere’s 3D Road Show is designed to reach filmmakers seeking additional learning experiences in 3D.”

Attendees should expect to glean tips and tricks for creating 3D content, what pitfalls to avoid, and best practices for workflow and budgeting considerations. The goal is for the creative and technical teams tasked with stereoscopic projects to improve their skills and knowledge, and understand the choices in twin lens cameras, rigs and tools, postproduction workflows, visual effects creation and assembly, storage, projection and delivery.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
