PP-Band Pro Zeiss DigiDiopter

-

Burbank-based Band Pro Film & Digital, the exclusive worldwide distributor for Carl Zeiss, recently introduced the new Carl Zeiss DigiDiopters—a set of diopters in +1 and +2 magnification, optimized to work in conjunction with Zeiss lenses and other high-quality 2/3-inch HD lenses. Ideal for extreme close-ups or wide-angle shots with a shallow depth of field, the DigiDiopters attach to the front of the lens to provide increased close-focus range and magnification capability.DigiDiopters employ an achromatic dual-lens assembly to minimize color fringing and spherical aberration.Carefully selected optical glass elements and Zeiss’ proprietary anti-reflective coating—the same coating applied to the company’s DigiPrime, and DigiZoom lenses—reduce light loss and flare while improving transmission for crisp images with saturated colors and accurate blacks. DigiDiopters are designed to optically match the Zeiss DigiPrime and DigiZoom’s color balance, contrast and overall image quality. The DigiDiopters can be attached to the camera lens, or to each other, via a single thumbscrew. This allows stacking a +1 and +2 diopters together on the front of the lens for a +3 magnification.

Vicon Introduces Mobile Mocap at SIGGRAPH

1
Motion capture systems developer Vicon is previewing a futuristic new “Mobile Mocap” technology at SIGGRAPH 2011 in Vancouver. Moving mocap out of the lab and into the field, Vicon's Mobile Mocap system taps several new technologies, many years in the making. At the heart of Mobile Mocap is a very small lipstick-sized camera that enables less obtrusive, more accurate facial animation data. The new cameras capture 720p (1280X720) footage at 60 frames per second. In addition, a powerful processing unit synchronizes, stores, and wirelessly transmits the data, all in a tiny wearable design.
