Lookin’ Good, but not quite Monday

So word is pouring/leaking/emanating from the West Coast WGA that the negotiating committee’s deal is well received by the membership, and hey, said committee is recommending ratification.
But the strike won’t end until that happens, and now the actual voting will apparently take place on Tuesday. Which means things won’t start back up then ’til [...]

Everyone everywhere is announcing a “tentaive deal,” this time with the blessings of Messrs. Verrone & Winship , inasmuch as they used that phrase in a letter to WGA members.
It would seem the only remaining question would be whether there’s a sizeable chunk of membership left who might feel that tentative deal isn’t wortwhile — [...]

On the Eve of the VES Awards; the writers meet big

So it’s VES Awards weekend here in El Lay — among other things — and this seems a germane time to run this excerpt from the current Union Roundup column in the paper — especially given the still-brewing scuttlebutt that the strike is more or less “wrapped up:”

Monday evening: AP — “Writers, studios still on track for deal”

So, true enough, nothing is announced yet, but within 24 hours of BTL’s Friday blog posting, the Hot Rumor of the strike’s upcoming end was all over the “internets” — the NY and LA Times had it, AP, CBS, the BBC, etc., etc., everyone hearing something similar from their various sources.
