The new contract that some IATSE locals signed just a year ago do include residuals for new media sales. I really believe this strike is a cat and mouse game and if the writers didn't break off talks in the summer and decided to meet a month before the contract pissed off the AMPTP. I believe that this strike was planed for months because the writers wanted to show the AMPTP how powerful they are.

Thomas Short may not be siding with the WGA but 99% of IATSE workers I have talked to do. Yes, even the ones who are unemployed as a result of the strike action (as I will be after this coming week). We all need to start sticking together and backing each other up. Remember, IATSE members did not vote for Thomas Short to represent us and we do think for ourselves. We all think it is very strange and very telling that we were all told to back the striking supermarket workers but not to back strikers in our own industry.

Ah how cute but your leaving out alot of people who do not belong to any sort of union your mentality is the only entertainment industry that exists is that one which is big studio oriented...besides that if unions functioned as they were supposed to things would be great but the sad fact is dispite having contracts with specific unions big studios (and small facilities) still find ways to circumvent using all union people throughout the process and the unions involved along the way are well aware of this but as one union representative once told me "we really can't be bothered with trivial people along the way, we are looking at the big picture". yeah I know someone will bark at this being BS or want specifics but please while I could be very specific the sad truth is while people might have trouble enforcing against a studio they would lose zero time nailing "trivial people" like me but many people working in this business know what I am saying is very true.
