To Mark and anyone who here is BTL

We fans are in the early stages of getting organized and we understand that none of our favorite TV shows or films get made with the help of those working below the line.

We are trying to figure out how to help you. While a lot of us can't give you back your jobs (we don't work for the megacorporations) or pay you 100% of what you are losing (like most of you posting here, most of us are working or middle class, or are strapped students), we would like to do something to help you...even though it may not be a lot of money.

Can you come on over and join us at our Live Journal community wga_supporters? We would really like to hear from you and do what we can to help.

Thanks

Tilly, I think thats a wonderful idea and I wonderful if it would be legally possible to do...I mean they are striking. As for the pain aspect I do think the writers really have zero idea what people think of what they are doing, the idea some have of what the writers want (more money) being the same as what people struck in the past for; child labor, equal pay, safer conditions, health care...heck what was with Jessie Jackson making it seem like anything that occured in the sixties had anything to do with these guys wanting a slice of the financial action on the internet? He should be ashamed of himself

Tony & Tilly-- Is it possible these fan groups consider their actions (whether they reach "critical mass" remains to be seen!) as helping to "speed up" a resolution to this painful strike?

I say take the residual checks the writers are getting during the strike and hold them until the strike is over. Let them feel the same pain the BTL employees will feel.

And this gets what...I mean while the writers are on strike their chief negotiator is openly gloating at the pain he is causing....pain to who the studios or all the surrounding little people who do not get residuals and earn a fraction of the writers pay....Add to that some writers are already back at work under assumed names or looking to work for the cartoon shows as they are a different union. Bottom line is before you ask the consumer or even other unions to rally around your cause maybe ask fellow writers to do likewise dude
